Kennesaw State continues its four-game homestand this weekend, welcoming ASUN rival Jacksonville to The Shake for an important clash in league play. The Dolphins enter the weekend in first place with an 8-1 record while the Owls sit in third with a 6-3 overall mark in conference play. Friday and Saturday's showdown is scheduled to be shown on ESPN3, while Sunday's tilt will be on ASUN.TV.  

ON DECK

  1. Kennesaw State enters an important showdown with Jacksonville at Stillwell Stadium, sitting in third place with a 6-3 mark in the ASUN, trailing the Dolphins by two games in the loss column for first place. JU is riding an 11-game winning streak and sits 23-16 overall. 
  2. The Black and Gold are playing some of its best baseball over a two-week span, winning five of its past eight games. The Owls are batting .318 (88-for-277), tallying 14 double, three triples, four home runs and out-hitting teams 88-67 during the stretch. 
  3. The Owls are batting .296 (382-for-1290), tallying 67 doubles, eight triples and 36 home runs in 37 games this season. KSU ranks first in the ASUN in home runs, fourth in triples and fourth in doubles, averaging 3.0 extra base hits per game. 
  4. The Black and Gold are 10-13 overall at Stillwell Stadium, out-hitting opponents 231-200 in those games. Kennesaw State is 16-5 when out-hitting an opponent, and have eight players batting .300 or better at home –Grant Williams, Terence Norman, Corey Greeson, Austin Upshaw, Chris Erwin, Taylor Allum, Griffin Helms, Garrett Hodges
  5. Taylor Allum continued his streak of reaching base safely at least once in a ballgame with a walk in the eighth inning versus No. 10 Auburn Tuesday, extending his streak to 31 games. The junior outfielder sits six games shy of breaking Max Pentecost's record of 36 straight games in 2014.
  6. Allum is batting .344 (42-for-122) in 35 starts, recording three doubles, and team highs of home runs (12) and RBI 34. His 12 home runs ranks first in the ASUN and 14th in the nation. He sits four HR away from breaking Andy Chriscaden's KSU D-I record of 15 HR in a single season. 
  7. Grant Williams ranks 41st in the nation and second in the ASUN in toughest to strikeout. The junior second baseman has just 11 K's in 144 at-bats, and is averaging a strikeout every 13.1 AB. He currently leads the team with a .361 BA, 52 hits, and has tied his career high with 23 RBI in 34 starts. 
  8. Head Coach Mike Sansing is the reigning ASUN Coach of the Year, winning his first honors since Kennesaw State joined the ASUN in 2006. He is the second-youngest coach on the 1,000-win list, and is one of 13 active coaches with 1,000 victories who have coaches at least 10 seasons of D-I baseball. 
  9. The skipper won his 950th game Thursday (March 16) at Western Carolina, taking a 12-3 non-conference tilt at Hennon Stadium. The win also snapped a three-game losing skid in Cullowhee, N.C. Sansing now sits 43 wins away from winning his 1,000th career game in the Black and Gold uniform.
