Game Preview
After a week at home, the Owls hit the road to play Stetson and Jacksonville this Thursday, April 13 and Saturday, April 15.
KSU is 1-3 against the Hatters, but got their first victory against them a season ago. They currently sit at 4-1 in the ASUN and one game ahead of the Owls.
Jacksonville is currently at 8-4 overall and 5-0 in ASUN play. They will take on Mercer on Thursday before hosting the Owls on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Kennesaw State Team Notes
• With the victory over Delaware State and Howard this past weekend, Kennesaw State secured its sixth and seventh victory of the season. With the sixth win, KSU set a new Division I record for wins in its fifth season as a program.
• In the wins against the Hornets and the Bison, the Owls once again scored 20-plus goals. This season they have scored over 20 goals in six of their games.
• KSU is averaging 15.75 goals per game, giving them the fourth best scoring offense in the nation.
• Kennesaw State set six single-game records against the Hornets. The records that were broken were goals with 26, assists with 15, points with 41, goals in a half with 18, least amount of goals allowed with three and goal differential at 23.
• The Owls have also been outstanding at picking up ground balls and winning draw controls. The Owls are the top team in the nation scooping up 27.17 ground balls per game and are second in the nation winning 16.50 draw controls per game.
• A big reason the Owls rank so highly in draw controls is
Sydney Farwick. She is 14th in the country averaging 5.50 draw controls per game. Farwick has won more than six in draws in six games this season.
•
Olivia Hokanson made her return to the field after battling back from a knee injury in the fall and scored immediately upon getting on the field. She totaled seven goals and two assists on the weekend. The seven goals brings her to 95 career goals. She would become the second player in Kennesaw State history to score 100 career goals joining
Sydney Farwick. Fellow senior
Taylor McGhee is currently at 90 career goals.
• Against Howard,
Connor Zophy finished with one goal and four assists giving her 100 career points. She is the fourth KSU player to reach the 100-point mark joining Farwick, Hokanson and McGhee.
• On the year, Farwick,
Haley Swift and McGhee have scored over 30 goals. Zophy leads team in points with 50 scoring 27 goals and 23 assists.
Next Up
After taking on Jacksonville on Saturday, April 15, Kennesaw State will fly to Old Dominion to take on the Monarchs on April 21 at 4 p.m.
