KENNESAW, Ga. – Junior Lauren Bennett produced a sacrifice fly to drive home freshman Andrea Summey with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Kennesaw State rallied from a two-run deficit to register a 6-5 victory over visiting Georgia State in a non-conference game Tuesday at Bailey Park.

After falling behind 5-3 in the top half of the seventh, the Owls (29-12) took advantage of three hits and a pair of walks to rally for the come-from-behind victory.

Hannah Thomason and Olivia Tamewitz opened the seventh with back-to-back singles and Katey Lynch followed with a walk to load the bases. One out later, Noelle Winkles singled home Thomason and Tamewitz to tie the score. Following a walk to Kira Czyrklis that re-loaded the bases, Bennett hit a medium-deep fly ball to right field that scored pinch runner Summey with the winning run.

The three-run seventh marked the first scoring by Kennesaw State since it struck for three runs in the first inning to take an early lead. After that, Georgia State starter Mandy Chance held the Owls in check until the seventh.

Meanwhile, the Panthers (26-14) chipped away at the lead, scoring two runs in the third against Alley Cutting and adding single runs in the sixth and seventh against Logan Viers (11-5).

Thomason and Tamewitz were the catalysts at the top of the order for the Owls as the two combined to go 6-for-8 with four runs scored and an RBI. They each collected three hits and scored twice to lead KSU's 12-hit attack.

Winkles added two hits and a pair for RBIs, while Sutter had a first-inning RBI single to extend her hitting streak to seven games.

Kennesaw State returns to Bailey Park on Friday when it opens an ASUN Conference series against Jacksonville. The two teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. before closing out the series with a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday.
