BSB: Kennesaw State Takes on High Point at The Shake

Kennesaw State and HIgh Point Meet for the First Time in Programs' History.

The Owls return home after a four-game road trip that included a weekend series at Middle Tennessee and a midweek tilt at Auburn. Kennesaw State went 1-3 during the stretch, but returns home where it has posted a 4-3 record in seven games. KSU and High Point will be aired on ASUN.TV and is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start Friday at Stillwell Stadium.

ON DECK

  1. Kennesaw State returns home to take on High Point at Stillwell Stadium for a three-game series at The Shake. This will mark the first meeting between the two programs.
  2. The Owls entered the new week with a 5-3 mark over their last eight games, outscoring opponents 64-30 and have totaled a 3.47 ERA. Kennesaw State dropped its lone midweek game on the road at Auburn, 6-4, and enters the weekend with a 6-6 record.
  3. All three games will be aired on ASUN.TV, beginning with a 6 p.m. tilt on Friday, a 2 p.m. contest Saturday, and wraps up the series with a 1 p.m. game on Sunday.
  4. Junior outfielder Taylor Allum was named ASUN Player of the Week following an impressive week at the plate. Allum went 8-for-12 (.667) at the dish, driving in seven RBI and totaled two home runs a week ago. He slugged 1.167 and totaled an on-base percentage of .750 to help the Owls go 2-2 in four games.
  5. Junior teammates Allum and first baseman Austin Upshaw have combined for 32 RBI, nine home runs, six RBI, going 34-for-87 (.390) in 12 games played.
  6. The Owls return home were they have totaled a .326 batting average, 58 runs, 28 extra base hits and 50 RBI, slugging for .483% and a .410 on-base percentage –outscoring opponents 58-33 at The Shake. The pitching staff has held opponents to a .219 batting average and a 3.56 ERA, tallying an 8.0 strikeout per nine ratio.
  7. Head Coach Mike Sansing is back for his 26th season with the Black and Gold. He is the second-youngest coach on the 1,000-win list, and is one of 13 active coaches with 1,000 victories who have coaches at least 10 seasons of D-I baseball.
  8. KSU plays a total of 56 games in the regular season, 33 of them coming at home and 23 on the road. The Owls take on 16 (eight home, eight away) midweek tilts and opens ASUN action on the road at North Florida on March 31.
  9. The Owls return 26 members from 2016, a team that won 17 games in the ASUN and became the first team since 2010 (FGCU) to win each regular-season conference series.
