THE STORYLINE:Â
· With the score tied at four in the first half, Kennesaw State scored six of the next seven goals in the game to take a commanding 11-5 lead.
Connor Zophy led the way with seven goals and an assist to total eight points on the afternoon. The win is not only the first for KSU this season, but is also the first for
Laura Maness as the head coach of the Owls.
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
· With the game tight early, the Owls used a 6-1 run towards the end of the first half to take an 11-5 lead. Each team added one more goal into the break, so KSU led 12-6 at halftime.
· After building a comfortable lead, Kennesaw State kept their foot on the gas scoring the first three goals of the second half and then scoring six straight goals to lead 21-8 with 9:21 remaining in the game.
· After being tied at four, KSU outscored Gardner Webb 17-5.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:Â
· Kennesaw State had five players score multiple points in the game led by
Connor Zophy, who totaled eight with seven goals and one assist. As a team, the Owls had 29 points on the afternoon.
· The seven goals for Zophy is a career high for the junior. Her previous career high for goals was three against Longwood and Saint Mary's a season ago.

Emily Napierala had a new career high with three assists in the game. The freshman attacker currently leads the team with five assists.
· KSU won the draw control battle 21-11 against the Runnin' Bulldogs.
·
Sydney Farwick continued her strong play early with five goals and two assists. She also won seven draw controls, which is a season high for Kennesaw State.
· The 21 goals the team scored was the most this season and the fourth time in KSU's history the team has topped the 20-goal mark.
