BSB: Kennesaw State Heads South on I-75 to Take on Georgia State

After a long four-game weekend series at home versus Canisius, Kennesaw State baseball now turns its attention towards non-conference in-state rival Georgia State for a midweek affair Wednesday evening. The game marks the lone meeting between the two programs this season, and will be played at GSU Complex Stadium at 6 p.m. 
 

ON DECK

  1. Kennesaw State currently sits at 10-14 overall and an even 3-3 away from Stillwell Stadium, and is coming off a 2-3 week with a midweek loss to Georgia and finished 2-2 versus Canisius over the weekend. 
  2. The Owls are batting .295 (65-for-220) on the road in six games, totaling seven doubles, one triple and eight home runs. KSU has outscored opponents 47-30 away from Kennesaw and is slugging .445 with an on-base percentage of .396 in those games. 
  3. Taylor Allum (.524, 11-for-21), Forrest Bramlett (.500, 1-for-2) and LaDonis Bryant (.400, 2-for-5) are all batting .400 or better on the road this season, while Grant Williams (.385, 10-for-26) ranks second on the team with nine RBI on the road. 
  4. Austin Upshaw leads the team with 10 runs batted in six road games this season, slugging .741 and has tallied an on-base percentage of .367 in six starts. 
  5. Taylor Allum, Austin Upshaw and Grant Williams have combined for 30 of the Owls' 65 hits on the road this season, tallying three doubles, six HR and 26 RBI. 
  6. Head Coach Mike Sansing is back for his 26th season with the Black and Gold. He is the second-youngest coach on the 1,000-win list, and is one of 13 active coaches with 1,000 victories who have coaches at least 10 seasons of D-I baseball. 
  7. The skipper won his 950th game Thursday (March 16) at Western Carolina, taking a 12-3 non-conference tilt at Hennon Stadium. The win also snapped a three-game losing skid in Cullowhee, N.C. 
  8. KSU plays a total of 56 games in the regular season, 33 of them coming at home and 23 on the road. The Owls take on 16 (eight home, eight away) midweek tilts and opens ASUN action on the road at North Florida on March 31.
  9. The Owls return 26 members from 2016, a team that won 17 games in the ASUN and became the first team since 2010 (FGCU) to win each regular-season conference series.
