DELAND, Fla.  – Kennesaw State men's basketball stayed hot in the ASUN winning their fifth game in six tries taking one over Stetson 92-85 in Deland, Florida at the Edmunds Center.
 
James Scott got his first start of his career and stepped up in a big way for the Owls scoring a career high 33 points going 11-19 from the floor and 9-11 from the free throw line. The freshman shooting guard also had four assists and three steals.
 
With under four minutes to go and the game tied, Kennesaw State went on an 8-0 and some breathing room from the Hatters.

The 8-0 run started when Aubrey Williams got an old fashioned three-point play to put the Owls back in front. After the Williams free throw, Scott got one of his steals for a layup, and then Nick Masterson hit a huge three for the dagger.
 
With the Owls up eight, Stetson started to foul and Kennesaw State made enough of their free throws to win the game 92-85.
 
Aubrey Williams notched his 15^th double-double this season with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
 
In the first half, the Owls were on fire shooting 57 percent while holding Stetson to 39 percent from the floor.
 
With the score tied at 19, KSU hit seven straight shots to go up 11 after a 15-4 run.Kennesaw State held their double-digit lead into halftime leading 43-31.
 
Early in the second half, the Owls stretched their lead out even more going on a 7-0 run to take a 19-point lead with 18 minutes remaining, but Stetson wouldn't go away.
 
Playing in front of their home crowd and led by Divine Myles, Stetson used two huge runs to get back into the game. The Hatters brought it back within one point at the 7:48 mark and then tied the score twice under the five minute mark in the game.
 
When things did tighten up, Williams and Masterson refused to let the Owls lose. Williams scored 17 of his 20 points in the second half and Masterson had two huge threes coming down the stretch with the final one putting KSU back up eight in the final minutes.
 
The win against Stetson ensures the Owls of at least a split on every conference road trip this season and moves KSU to 6-4 in ASUN play. Overall, Kennesaw State is now 12-14 on the year.
 
Now, the Owls have one more regular season road game left at Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, February 9 at 7 p.m.

• Kennesaw State won their 12^th game of the season as they won their sixth in eight games tonight. The 12 wins is the most since the 2009-10 season when that team won 13 games. The most a team has ever won in Division I is 14 in 2006-07.
• This is the second three game winning streak in the conference in Skinner's two year's coaching the Owls. Last year the team beat North Florida, Jacksonville and Stetson. The last time a KSU team won four straight games in conference play was the 2009-10 team. They won six straight conference games in that stretch.
• This is the first time the team has scored 90-plus points since the Owls played in Deland last season when the Owls also had 92 points in the game.
• Scott got his first start tonight and cashed in with a career high 33 points. The freshman shooting guard was 11-19 from the field and 9-11 from the free throw line. The 30-point performance is the fifth for Kennesaw State this season. Kendrick Ray has the other four 30-point games this season.
• Williams scored 20 points overall with 17 of them coming in the second half to secure his 15^th double-double of the season pulling down 10 rebounds.
• In Skinner's both seasons as head coach, he has had Kennesaw State playing its best basketball late in the season. The Owls are a combined 7-2 in February the past two seasons.
