MBB: Owls to Take on Stetson in Deland

Game Preview
Kennesaw State will look for the season sweep against the Stetson Hatters on Thursday, February 9. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. and will be broadcasted on ESPN3.
 
In the current standings, KSU is tied for third at 5-4.
 
ASUN Player of the Week
Kendrick Ray was named ASUN Player of the Week after averaging 22.0 points per game and leading the Owls to two victories over NJIT and USC Upstate. The senior hit the winning bucket against NJIT with under five seconds to play and was 4-4 from the free throw line in the final minute against Upstate to put the game on ice.
 
Double Digit Wins
The Owls matched their win total from last season after defeating Upstate for their 11th victory of the season with five games still remaining in the regular season.
 
This is the third season in a row that Kennesaw State has matched double-digit victories.
 
Winning Ways in 2017
The Owls had a winning record in January for the first time since joining Division I with a 5-4 record. Three of those victories came on the road against Tennessee State, Jacksonville and NJIT.
 
Moving into February, Kennesaw State defeated USC Upstate pushing their 2017 record to 6-4.
 
Taking Care of the Ball
In 12 of the last 15 games, Kennesaw State has had more assists than turnovers and that has led to success in the win column as KSU is 8-5 in their last 13 games.
 
Through eight ASUN games, the Owls are leading the conference averaging 16.8 assists per game. In those games, they also have only committed 11.3 turnovers per game giving them a 1.5 assist to turnover rating which leads the ASUN.
 
Against NJIT, Kennesaw State had 20 assists and only eight turnovers. That is the fifth time this season that they have had 20 assists in a game.
 
Freshman Boosting Bench Play
James Scott has made an impact on the floor in his minutes off of the bench. He's averaging 8.9 points per game in 14.6 minutes per game. Per 40 minutes, the freshman is averaging 24.6 points per game.
 
Against USC Upstate, Scott tied a career high scoring 18 points. In the second half, it was a two point game and the shooting guard scored seven points in a little over two minutes of action to put KSU up nine. The bench overall outscored the Spartans 35-13 in the game.
