KENNESAW, Ga. – The American Volleyball Association announced that Kennesaw State's
Liesl Engelbrecht earned All-South Region honors after her tremendous season.
Engelbrecht is the first Kennesaw State volleyball player to be named to an All-Region Team.
"Liesl's hard-earned accomplishment is a direct reflection of the work and passion she approached all of 2017 with," head coach
Keith Schunzel. "After the 2016 season, she decided she wanted to be a big-time player, so she made some major changes in her overall mentality and in how hard she trained. This award is so well deserved and it's awesome to see her hard work and desire pay off. We are so proud of Liesl that she is KSU's first ever All-Region award winner."
She was one of 14 players named to the South Region Team. In all, there are 10 regions where 14 players are selected for each. Engelbrecht is now eligible to be named an All-American.
The junior middle blocker had a monster season being named ASUN First Team All-Conference. Engelbrecht led the team in blocks with 91 and was third on the team in kills with 195, while hitting .335 on the season.
