NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A game effort by the Kennesaw State women's soccer team came up short as the Owls fell 1-0 to Lipscomb in the semifinals of the ASUN Conference Championship Friday night in Nashville.
 
The Bisons (9-6-3) advance to Sunday's championship match against Florida Gulf Coast, while Kennesaw State concludes its season with an 8-7-4 record.
 
FIRST STRIKE
Lipscomb took the early advantage, scoring 9:33 into the match on a header by Justis Bailey, following a free kick by Natalie Duboise.
 
STRONG FIRST HALF
Despite trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Owls were the more aggressive team as they outshot Lipscomb, 5-4, and held a 4-2 advantage in shots on goal.

QUOTING THE COACH
"I am so proud of the fight our team played with tonight and all season long," head coach Benji Walton said. "Tonight's game was what playoffs are all about. Two good teams battling like crazy to advance and, unfortunately, we came up on the short end. Lipscomb is a heck of a team and I just want to commend them on an a great game tonight." 
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Lipscomb finished the match with a 14-9 shot advantage, including a 10-4 edge in the second half. The Bisons also won the shots on-goal statistic, 7-4.
 
SENIORS' FINALE
The ASUN Championship semifinal marked the final collegiate contest for five Kennesaw State seniors. Mady Carter, Ashtah Das, Ida Hepsoe, Abby Roth and Jessica Sexton all wore the black and gold for the last time. The group combined to play in 255 matches for the Owls over the past four years.

WALTON ON THE SENIORS
"I hate our season had to end for our seniors tonight," Walton said. "This group has been tremendous and will not only be sorely missed but hard to replace. I will be forever grateful for my short time with them and for the legacy that they are leaving for future Owls."
 
DAS LEADS OWLS
Senior Ashtah Das finished the season with a team-leading 10 points, scoring four goals and adding two assists.
