MBB: Owls Battle Florida State in Tallahassee

Four Players Score in Double Figures

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. 
– The Owls made 45 percent of their shots and hit nine threes, but Florida State still got the best of Kennesaw State winning 98-79 in Tallahassee, Florida on the day before Thanksgiving.
 
Four Owls scored in double figures led by James Scott with 17 and Tyler Hooker with 16.
 
In front of their home crowd, Florida State got out to a double-digit lead early and head coach Al Skinner inserted Hooker into the lineup and he immediately provided energy for the Owls.
 
The Owls trailed by as many as 19 points in the first half, but 12 points from Hooker brought KSU back to within 12 at halftime trailing 54-42.
 
Kennesaw State shot 52 percent from the floor in the first half.
 
Scott hit a three right out of the gate to get the Owls back within single digits, but Florida State's length on defense clamped down on the Owls helping them pull away in the second half.
 
The Owls bench was once again a plus against the Noles, scoring 40 points in the game.
 
The loss brings the Owls record to 1-4 on the season.
 
Kennesaw State will now get to play at home in the KSU Convocation Center against Tennessee State on Saturday, November 25 at 7 p.m.
 
There is a deal for fans that attend the Kennesaw State football game as they take on Samford in the FCS Playoffs First Round will receive a ticket to the men's game $5 off the original price.

  • The Owls bench stepped up scoring 40 points in the game and outscoring Florida State's bench by nine.
  • The 79 points that Kennesaw State had against the Noles is the most the team has scored this season.
  • Scott led the team with 17 points scoring 15 of those in the second half.
  • Hooker was a difference maker in the first half going 4-7 from the floor to lead the Owls with 12 points in 16 minutes. He finished second on the team with 16 points. He also chipped in with four assists.
  • Kennesaw State shot 52 percent in the first half against Florida State. That is the second highest percentage KSU has shot in a half this season and third time overall they have shot over 50 percent in a half.
  • Kosta Jankovic came off the bench this game for the first time in three games, but he was very productive scoring 13 points going 5-6 from the floor and leading the team in rebounds with six.
  • The Owls had nine threes matching their season high. The other game they had nine threes was against Butler.
