Preview
Kennesaw State travels to take on Tennessee Tech on Saturday, November 18. The Owls are coming off of their first victory over the season over Piedmont on Thursday, November 16 in the KSU Convocation Center.
The game will be broadcasted on the OVC Digital Network.
Scouting Tennessee Tech
The Golden Eagles are 2-1 on the season defeating two non-division I opponents with their one loss of the season coming at TCU.
They have a well-balanced offense with four players averaging in double figures led by Curtis Phillips.
Steve Payne is in his seventh season as head coach at Tennessee Tech.
Setting Up Their Teammates
Along with scoring 96 points in their exhibition against West Georgia, the Owls had 29 assists on 37 field goals.
That is the most assists KSU has had under Skinner. The previous high was 27 a season ago against North Florida.
Against Piedmont, the Owls had 19 assists on 32 field goals and only had nine turnovers.
KSU had 10 games last season with at least 19 assists.
Bench Help
Against Piedmont, the Owls outscored the Lions bench 37-17.
In the first three games, KSU's bench has averaged 23.3 points per game.
Tristan Jarrett has been a big part of the bench providing a scoring spark as the freshman has scored in double figures in two of the three games this season and is averaging 10.7 points per game.
New Look
Kennesaw State will have two new jerseys this season with a gray and a black jersey to go along with their white and gold jerseys.
The black jersey has sleeves on it making KSU one of two schools in the country to have one of its primary road jerseys to have sleeves. The other school is with a primary jersey with sleeves on it is Northwestern State.
Not only do the Owls have new jerseys this season, but KSU will be playing on a new court this season with the KS logo in the center of the floor.
Jankovic Steps Up in First Start
Kosta Jankovic got his first career start against Hofstra and led the team in points with 15 and rebounds with seven.
He went 4-8 from the field and made 7-9 free throws in 34 minutes.
Jarrett Provides a Spark
In his first three collegiate games, Jarrett has scored in double figures in two of them.
In his first collegiate action, Jarrett showed no fear on the floor scoring 15 points at Butler.
Against Piedmont, the freshman went 6-10 in the game to score 14 points.
Masterson Does it All
Nick Masterson led the team against Piedmont with 18 points on 7-12 shooting and making four threes.
The 18 points was a season high for Masterson, but he has led the team in other areas. He currently leads the team in steals and assists in the early going of the season.
