Kennesaw, Ga.— Junior QB
Chandler Burks earned CoSIDA Academic All-District Team honors for his dedication in the classroom, announced Thursday afternoon by CoSIDA. A list of 25 student-athletes were announced to the District-4 in the Southeast Region.
Burks, a Douglasville, Ga., native, has a 3.88 GPA as a sport management major. He has already been named to the CFPA National Performer of the Year Watch and Midseason Lists, the FCS Walter Payton Award Watch List, and a three-time Big South Offensive Player of the Week.
Burks currently leads the team with 781 rushing yards and 180 carries, 893 passing yards and 16 (11 rush, five pass) touchdowns. He ranks first in the Big South in rushing attempts (180) and rushing touchdowns (11).
He and the No. 21-ranked Owls (9-1, 4-0) host No. 22 Monmouth (9-1, 4-0) for the Big South Championship game Saturday afternoon. The 2 p.m. contest at Fifth Third Bank Stadium is Senior Day and Student Appreciation Day. The game can be seen on ESPN3 or heard on ESPN Radio 1230 and 106.3.
Fifth Third Bank is the Official Bank of Kennesaw State Athletics. Fifth Third Bank Stadium, the signature athletics landmark on the Kennesaw State University campus, is a world-class facility that has been recognized as one of the premier multi-use outdoor athletics venues in the country. In the fall of 2015, it become the official home of Owls football team and is home to Owls soccer and lacrosse as well.
