Picked to Finish Fifth
Kennesaw State was picked to finish fifth in the ASUN Coaches Poll and the ASUN Media Poll. In Skinner's first two seasons, the team was picked to finish seventh.
Last season, the Owls finished in a tie for fourth at the end of the season.
Bench Help
Against Hofstra,
Isaac Mbuyamba gave the Owls some good minutes off the bench going 3-4 from the field for a career high six points. The sophomore forward also had a career high in rebounds with 9.
New Look
Kennesaw State will have two new jerseys this season with a gray and a black jersey to go along with their white and gold jerseys.
The black jersey has sleaves on it making KSU one of two schools in the country to have one of its primary road jerseys to have sleeves. The other school is with a primary jersey with sleeves on it is Northwestern State.
Not only do the Owls have new jerseys this season, but KSU will be playing on a new court this season with the KS logo in the center of the floor.
Familiarity With the Staff
Coach Skinner has not only had the same staff for all three seasons, but he had previously coached two of his three assistants at prior schools.
Michael Cotton transferred to Boston College after originally going to Oklahoma to play for Skinner for his junior and senior season before graduating in 2000.
Skinner was an assistant at Rhode Island when
Carlton Owens played for the Rams. Owens is still the all-time leading scorer in Rhode Island history and the only Ram to score over 2,000 career points.
Scott Gets Hot
James Scott got off to a slow start against Butler, but led Kennesaw State in the second half, scoring 22 of his 26 points. The Owls outscored Butler 40-34 in the second half with Scott scoring 22 of those points.
Last season, he became the first KSU player to be named to the All-Freshmen Team since Delbert Love in 2010.
Jankovic Steps Up in First Start
Kosta Jankovic got his first career start against Hofstra and led the team in points with 15 and rebounds with seven.
He went 4-8 from the field and made 7-9 free throws in 34 minutes.
Tristan Jarrett Scores in Double Figures
In his first collegiate action,
Tristan Jarrett showed no fear on the floor scoring 15 points at Butler.
In the first half, Jarrett provided a boost off the bench scoring eight points against the Bulldogs.
