OXFORD, Miss. – Freshman Kamiyah Street scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Kennesaw State women's basketball team during a 92-63 loss to Ole Miss Monday night at The Pavilion at Ole Miss.

Street was joined in double figures by freshman Alexis Poole and senior Clara Young, who scored 10 points apiece for the Owls (0-2). Senior guard Shandricka Sessom led Ole Miss (2-0) with a game-high 23 points.

THE STORY LINE
Behind the play of Street, the Owls got off to a quick start, using a 10-0 run to build a lead they would hold for most of the first half. However, KSU was held scoreless over the final two minutes of the second quarter and trailed 38-34 at halftime. Street scored 15 of her 20 points in the first half. Ole Miss came out strong in the third quarter, utilizing a 7-0 run to build a double-digit lead at 48-36 and outscored Kennesaw State, 23-14, in the quarter to extend its lead to 61-48 entering the fourth quarter.

QUOTING THE COACH
"The ladies really improved since playing Clemson. We battled each quarter, but Ole Miss's size and depth wore us down," head coach Agnus Berenato said. "I thought Kamiyah Street played extremely well and set the tempo early for us. Clara (Young) did a good job of running the team while our new players got another taste of Power 5 Conference basketball. Tonight's game was great exposure for KSU and I was happy that we were not intimidated by Ole Miss's size, strength and speed. Games like this will help us later in the year."

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Ole Miss outscored KSU 46-24 in the paint and outrebounded the Owls, 44-27. Kennesaw State totaled 12 steals, with Street, Poole and Iceis Walker collecting three steals each. The Rebels' depth was a factor as their bench outscored KSU's, 25-9.
