Anthony Gore, Jr., and redshirt freshman LB Bryson Armstrong garnered Big South weekly awards, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Gore received Defensive Player of the Week honors while Armstrong earned Freshman of the Week, helping Owls extend their winning streak to nine games.

Gore, a Statesboro, Ga., native, posted a team-high eight tackles (seven solo) with two sacks for loss of 15 yards in the Owls' 38-0 win over Charleston Southern. He helped limit the Bucs to 187 yards of offense, and his second sack of the day was on 3rd down that pushed CSU back into its own territory.
Armstrong, a Marietta, Ga., native, was a key contributor in Kennesaw State's shutout victory over Charleston Southern, as he recorded four stops (three solo), two sacks for minus-16 yards, forced a fumble and broke-up a pass. His first quarter sack-fumble on 3rd down was recovered by KSU that led to the Owls' second touchdown.

The Big South Conference Championship is up for grabs as No. 21 Kennesaw State (9-1,4-0) hosts No. 22 Monmouth (9-1, 4-0) at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in a winner take all showdown in The Nest. The Owls enter Saturday with a program-best nine-game winning streak, while the Hawks enter with a seven-game winning streak. The Battle of the Birds is scheduled to kickoff at 2 p.m. on ESPN3. Senior Day at The Bank can also be heard on ESPN Radio 1230 and 106.3.

Fifth Third Bank Stadium, the signature athletics landmark on the Kennesaw State University campus, is a world-class facility that has been recognized as one of the premier multi-use outdoor athletics venues in the country. In the fall of 2015, it become the official home of Owls football team and is home to Owls soccer and lacrosse as well.
