Kennesaw State Team Notes
• With seven matches left in the season, KSU enters the second half of ASUN play tied at the top of the standings with FGCU and Jacksonville with a 6-1 record.
• Kennesaw State and Lipscomb has developed into a rivalry the past couple of seasons with each team getting wins on the road since 2015. The Owls defeated the Bisons for the first time on their home court earlier this year in a five-set thriller. Every time that the Owls have topped the Bisons, it has been in five sets.
• KSU has defended their home court really well this season as the Owls are 8-0. The team holds a 3-3 record on the road with two of those losses coming at No. 6 Kentucky and Louisville.
• The Owls are second in the ASUN in hitting percentage and senior setter
Kristi Piedimonte has done a great job of spreading the ball out on offense. KSU has four players with at least 117 kills on the season. Against NJIT last Saturday, the Owls posted the second highest hitting percentage ever in a Kennesaw State match with a .463 hitting percentage. It was the second time this season that KSU has hit over .400 in a match.
• Earlier in the year,
Katarina Morton became the career leader at Kennesaw State in digs with 1,684 after totaling 24 against North Florida in four sets. Morton is second in the ASUN in digs per set this season averaging 4.44.
• Morton along with the rest of the back line has really limited the opposing team's attack this season holding them to a conference-leading .177 hitting percentage. In four matches this season, the Owls have held their opponents below a .100 hitting percentage.
• This past Friday night, Kennesaw State held its third annual Griffin's Game against USC Upstate. The Owls raised 5,801.78 for David Sannuti and his family to help them in their fight against Leukemia.
• Piedimonte is having a great senior season at setter averaging 10.52 assists per set. That is the second best clip in the conference. The Owls are third in the conference averaging 13.64 kills per set. In conference matches, KSU has averaged even more kills per set with 14.08. She has also been piling up the aces in conference play with 12 and is second averaging 0.57 aces per set.
•
Anaiah Boyer and
Maddie Jones have led the Owls attack this year in kills, but since conference play has started,
Madeline Johnson and
Lauren Chastang have stepped up for the Owls offense. Johnson leads the ASUN in conference play hitting .345 with 24 kills and only four errors. Chastang is third in the conference hitting .338 with 31 kills and only eight errors.
