Game Preview
After getting a road victory at Jacksonville, the Owls return home to face NJIT on Wednesday, January 25. The Owls have a chance to get back to .500 as they sit 2-3 in conference play and in fifth place.
Last season was NJIT's first season in the ASUN and they won both meetings last season.
Sharing the Ball
In eight of the last 10 games, Kennesaw State has had more assists than turnovers and that has led to success in the win column as KSU is 5-5 in their last 10.
Against North Georgia and Lipscomb, the Owls had a season high 21 assists. Overall, KSU has had over 20 assists in four games this season.
Double-Double Machine
Through 21 games,
Aubrey Williams is averaging 12.6 points and 11.1 rebounds with 12 double-doubles. The 12 double-doubles is tied for ninth most in the country.
Williams has grabbed double-digit rebounds in 14 games this season.
In ASUN action, he is averaging 16.0 points and 13.2 rebounds per game. Williams has grabbed at least 13 rebounds in four of the five games played so far.
Smart Outside Shooting
Kennesaw State doesn't shoot a lot of threes, but when they do it's usually a good shot leading to a high shooting percentage from behind the arc. The Owls lead the nation shooting 43.9 percent going 147-335 from three-point land.
A big part of the high percentage is the players stick to their roles on the court. Only four players have made a three pointer for Kennesaw State with
Nick Masterson and
Kendrick Ray making almost all of them. The two have combined to make 123 of the 147 that the team has made.
Battle Tested
The Owls have been in nine games this season that have been within four points.
Despite having three losses in conference play, the three have come by a combined eight points dropping games to Lipscomb by three, FGCU by three and North Florida by two.
Dynamic Offensive Duo
Williams and Ray have been quite the offensive duo this season as they average 35.2 points per game together.
The two kept the Owls in the game early against Jacksonville scoring the first 14 points and for the game combined to score 47 of the 81 points.
