Game Preview
In a rematch of the 2015 ASUN Championship, the Kennesaw State Owls are opening up conference play against the Lipscomb Bisons. Last season, KSU got its first win against Lipscomb in program history beating the Bisons in five sets at Allen Arena. After splitting the regular season matches, Kennesaw State played Lipscomb a third time in the team's first ASUN Championship game falling 3-0 on the Bisons home floor.
 
Kennesaw State Team Notes
•The Owls finished non-conference play strong winning its last five matches to bring it record to 6-8 for the season. Last weekend, KSU won the Jacksonville State tournament going 4-0 only dropping one set.
• Senior Kelly Marcinek is approaching a major career milestone as she sits on 996 kills. Last weekend, she tallied 39 kills to bring her to just four away from the mark. Marcinek will be the second player to have 1,000 career kills in program history. Sabrita Gulley is the other Owl to finish her career with over 1,000 kills finishing her career with 1,240.
• Anaiah Boyer was named ASUN Defensive Player of the Week after being named MVP of the Jacksonville State tournament. She led the team with 54 kills averaging 4.15 per set. Boyer also had a big weekend on the defensive end picking up double-digit digs in both matches on Friday while having her fifth double-double of the season against Jacksonville State with 17 kills and 17 digs. Boyer finished the weekend with 10 blocks as well. This is the second time in her career that she has won ASUN Defensive Player of the Week.
• Kristi Piedimonte led the attack for the Owls this past weekend totaling 161 assists and averaging 12.38 assists per set. Against Jacksonville State, Piedimonte set a new career high with 58 assists in four sets. In three of the four matches this weekend, Piedimonte averaged over 12.0 assists per set. This season, she has had five matches where she has averaged at least 12.0 assists per set.
• Katarina Morton has been the defensive anchor for the Owls as she has 293 digs this season. Her average of 5.53 per set is fourth in the country and leads the ASUN. She has 20-plus digs in nine of the 14 matches this season and has eclipsed the 30-dig mark once.
• Liesl Engelbrecht has become a key for the Owls on offense and defense during her sophomore season. She is currently second in the ASUN hitting .315 and is second on the team with 111 kills. On the defensive end, Engelbrecht leads the team with 42.0 blocks averaging .81 per set.
 
 
Next Up
The Owls will continue their marathon road trip for one last weekend traveling to Jacksonville to play the Dolphins and North Florida.
