Kennesaw State hits the road for a date with the Dukes of Duquesne on Saturday on ESPN3 in Pittsburgh. The Owls are fresh off their open week, and last played Sept. 10 - a 49-3 rout of Point University. The game kicks off at 1 p.m. and can be heard in Atlanta on ESPN Radio 1230 The Fan 2.
FIRST & 10
- Saturday's game at Duquesne is the first road test of the 2016 slate for Kennesaw State.
- The matchup between the Owls and the Dukes is the first in series history. Duquesne's football program has been in existence since 1969, while Kennesaw State is in its second season.
- The Owls announced their eight-straight sellout crowd at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Sept. 10 when Kennesaw State hosted non-conference foe Point to campus. KSU has sold out all eight games at The Nest in program history.
- Kennesaw State will appear on ESPN3 for the first time this season at Rooney Field, and can also be heard on ESPN Radio The Fan 2 as Brian Giffin, Tutan Reyes and Art Eckman will have the call.
- Of the 50 Owls on the two-deep, 33 are redshirt-sophomores or younger. The depth also includes just seven seniors and 10 are juniors for head coach Brian Bohannon's team, which is the youngest team in the Big South Conference.
- Sophomore Chandler Burks made his first collegiate start at QB versus Point, totaling 220 yards of offense including a career-high 138 rushing yards on just nine carries – an average of 15.3 yards per rush.
- Senior RB Micah Reed, sophomore Jonah Huff and redshirt-freshman Daniel David all scored their first touchdowns wearing the Black and Gold on Sept. 10 versus Point.
- Dustin Clabough (six tackles) and Bronson Rechsteiner (two) each recorded career-highs in tackles versus Point.
- The Owls held Point to 94 rushing yards on 36 carries, who became the third victim in program history to fall short of 100 rushing yards in a single game.
- The Owls have held their opponents to 23 points through two home games, an average of 11.5 points per game.
A WIN VERSUS DUQUESNE WOULD
- Give Kennesaw State its second win of the 2016 season.
- Improve its record to 7-5 in first-time meetings in program history.
- Give the Owls their first road victory since Sept. 3, 2015 at ETSU, snapping a four-game losing skid.
TAKING A LOOK AT THE DUKES
- Duquesne is the reigning Northeast Conference Champions are were picked to repeat as conference champs in 2016. The Dukes fell in the 2015 NCAA FCS Playoffs to William & Mary, 52-49.
- The Dukes entered the season with seven offensive starting returning and six defensive players returning from an 8-4 overall campaign in 2015.
- Head Coach Jerry Schmitt is in his 12th season at the helm of the Dukes and 17th overall. He currently owns a 69-52 overall record at Duquesne and a 97-73 overall coaching record.
- Duquesne is coming off a season in which lost to William & Mary, 52-49, in the NCAA FCS Playoffs.
- RB Rafiq Douglas returns after rushing for 977 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2015.
LOOKING BACK AT POINT
- Kennesaw State rolled up 555 yards of total offense and sophomore QB Chandler Burks accounted for three touchdowns as the Owls took down Point University, 49-3, at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Sept. 10.

- Kennesaw State totaled 201 rushing yards in the first half on just 19 carries. The team's first-half rushing average of 10.57 yards per carry set a school record, surpassing the 7.4 yards in the first half versus Point last season.
- It is the fourth time in school history the Owls have surpassed 200 yards rushing in the first half (254 at Dayton in 2015, 221 vs. Point in 2015 and 207 vs. Edward Waters in 2015).
- The Owls' 49 points are the most points scored in a single game since Point was welcomed to The Nest in 2015, when KSU racked up a school-record 56 points on the day.
CB3 AWAKENED
- Sophomore Chandler Burks made his first collegiate start at QB versus Point, completing a career-high nine passes –which also tied the school mark for most completions in a game— for 82 yards in the air.
- Burks not only did damage through the air, but a career-high 138 rushing yards on just nine carries –an average of 15.3 yards per rush—also provided a dual threat under center.
- Burks' 220 total yards of offense was the fifth time in school history a QB has totaled over 200 yards of offense, as senior QB Trey White owns the other four: Monmouth, Shorter, Point, GWU.
- The sophomore, with a 14-0 lead capped off a 98-yard drive with a career-best 51-yard touchdown run in the second quarter versus Point to give the Owls a three-score lead at the time. Burks accounted for 82 of the 98 yards on the drive including the TD rush and a 31-yard run earlier in the drive.
