The Kennesaw State Soccer team opens its 15th season since the program was instituted in 2002 when it travels to Tennessee to take on Chattanooga on Friday (Aug. 19). Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. (ET) at Finley Stadium.

Benji Walton, who begins his first year leading the KSU program after assuming the reins in January.

A Look Back at 2015
Kennesaw State concluded the 2015 campaign with a 6-10-3 mark, including a 3-3-1 mark in Atlantic Sun Conference play.

The Owls advanced to the first round of the ASUN Tournament where they fell 3-2 to Stetson in overtime at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

Benji Walton Takes the Helm
Benji Walton begins his first season guiding the Kennesaw State program after being named head coach on Dec. 18, 2015 and assuming the post on Jan. 4. He joins the Owls program after spending the previous three seasons as an assistant coach at Indiana. Â

Brittney Reed Named Preseason All-ASUN Conference
Redshirt senior
Brittney Reed was named to the Atlantic Sun Conference's preseason all-conference team following a vote of the league's coaches. Reed, who earned her degree in July, was named to the all-conference team despite playing in just three matches after suffering an early-season knee injury. The Owls' senior was a force in those three contests as she totaled 15 points (seven goals, one assist) to place second on the team.

Scouting Chattanooga
• The Mocs begin their sixth season under head coach Gavin McKinney and are coming off a 4-12-3 season in 2015.

Chattanooga returns two of its top three points leaders from a year in junior McKenzie Gregg (9 pts; 3g, 3a), who tied for the team lead, and junior Peyton McCollum, who totaled eight points (4 goals) in 2015.

Kennesaw State Team Notes
• The 2016 Kennesaw State roster includes seven seniors, seven juniors, one sophomore and nine freshmen.
• Kennesaw State was picked to finish fifth in the ASUN preseason coaches' poll after receiving 32 points. Defending conference champion Florida Gulf Coast was selected first in the poll as it was a unanimous pick, totaling 63 points and seven first-place votes.

Cassidy Kemp returns as the Owls' top point producer after totaling 16 points (six goals, four assists)

Ashley Zambetti provides Kennesaw State with experience in goal after appearing in 15 matches and recording a 4-7-3 record, one shutout and 1.71 goals-against average.

The Owls will make their 2016 home debut on Monday, Aug. 22 when they welcome Georgia State to Fifth Third Bank Stadium. Kickoff is 7 p.m. (ET)
