KENNESAW, Ga. – Five Kennesaw State individuals were recognized as All-America Scholar Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), Owls head coach Tory Acheson announced on Friday.

Those honored for their work in the classroom were seniors
Emily Bishop,
Hillary Kartman and
Missy Perkowski, and juniors
Taylor Denton and
Logan Viers.

"We are very proud to see these players recognized by the NFCA for their accomplishments in the classroom," Acheson said. "It says a lot about their commitment and dedication to achieve at such a high level while fulfilling all their softball obligations at the same time. These are special people who really understand how to get things done! It is an Owl Proud day!"

Bishop, Denton, Kartman and Perkowski are two-time NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, while Viers has been recognized for the first time.

To be honored as an NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete, and individual must have 3.5 grade-point average or higher. Recognition is given to students at the NCAA Division I, II and three levels, as well as NAIA, junior college and high school.

Kennesaw State has had 10 players selected as All-America Scholar-Athletes over the course of Acheson's two seasons as head coach.
