LAX: Owls Fall to Furman in Regular Season Finale

Taylor Catts Scores Two Goals

THE STORYLINE: 
· Kennesaw State played well defensively in the first half holding Furman to just five goals in the first 29 minutes, but the Paladins scored two goals in the final 20 seconds to push their halftime lead  to 7-2 and grab the momentum. Both teams had chances early in the second half, but Furman struck first and eventually sealed the game 14-4.


HOW IT HAPPENED: 
· Olivia Hokanson drew first blood in the game scoring less than two minutes in putting the Owls up 1-0.

· Seven minutes later, Taylor Catts scored to give the Owls their second lead of the day at 2-1 with 21:10 remaining in the first half.

· After going up 2-1, Kennesaw State continued to play good defense the rest of the half despite falling down 5-2. Then, in the final minute the Paladins scored two goals to push their lead to five goals going into the locker room.

· In the second half, both teams had chances early on, but Furman got on the board first with 24:18 remaining and extended their lead from there.

· Late in the second half, Sydney Farwick and Catts both notched goals for the Owls.


INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 
· Taylor Catts led the team with two goals today. It is her second multi-goal game this season as she scored three against Radford.

· Olivia Hokanson scored one goal in the game putting her at 42 for the season. She is one behind the Kennesaw State single-season record.

· Elaine Bradley and Alex Bunn split time in the cage today and combined to make seven saves.

· Taylor McGhee and Haley Swift both had two caused turnovers each.

 

UP NEXT
The Owls will now wait to find out who its opening round opponent will be in the A-Sun tournament at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. KSU will be the six seed in the tournament that begins Thursday, May 5.
