BSB: Owls Set for a Pair of Non-Conference Mid-Week Contests

KSU will take on Georgia Southern and Georgia State this week.

Strike Out Hunger
- KSU, in conjunction with Fifth Third Bank (Georgia), have announced plans to kick off the annual Strike Out Hunger food drive. The community food drive will take place Tuesday, April 26 at KSU when the Owls take on Georgia Southern at Stillwell Stadium with first pitch set for 6 p.m.
- Fifth Third Bank will also donate $53 to the CARE Center for every strike out pitched by a KSU pitcher during the game.

Owls Rolling
- The Owls have been playing their best baseball of the 2016 season as of late, reeling off eight straight victories before dropping Sunday's 13-inning tilt to Lipscomb.
- Kennesaw State is 10-2 over its first 12 games, equaling the best four-series start in conference since 2014 when Lipscomb and Mercer started 10-2.
- Lipscomb, in fact, started 12-2 that season.
- This is the best start to conference play in Owls' history since becoming a D-I member in 2006.
 
Heating up for May
- The Owls have, in fact, gone 11-4 in the month of April – marking the best month by a landslide for KSU in 2016.
- Kennesaw State is batting .291 (153-526) with 24 doubles, two triples and 10 home runs while totaling 86 RBI.
- KSU has outscored opponents 93-73 during the stretch and has out-hit opponents 153-133.
- The Owls are slugging .401 and has compiled a .366 on-base percentage.
 
Enjoying the Sun
- The Owls hold a 10-2 record in conference, which sits in first place after four series.
- Kennesaw State is batting .311 (133-428) with 20 doubles, one triple and nine home runs while totaling 77 RBI.
- KSU has outscored opponents 83-54 during the stretch and has out-hit opponents 133-106.
- The Owls are slugging .425 and has compiled a .387 on-base percentage.
- KSU's pitching staff has a 3.70 ERA and a 10-2 record in 112 IP worked, striking out 106 while issuing just 36 walks.
- Kennesaw State's bullpen has been key, as Richard Lovelady leads the team with nine appearances and 12.1 innings out of the pen. He has nine K's and no walks during the span and has allowed just one run. 
 
Up, Up and Away
- Austin Upshaw hit his sixth and seventh home runs of the season over the weekend series against NJIT and continued his hot streak into last week.  
- The sophomore is currently on an 11-game hitting streak, where he has totaled at least two hits in seven games, and three hits in two of those games.
- During the stretch, Upshaw is batting .543 with 14 hits, three doubles, one triple and two home runs.
- Upshaw highlighted his streak with a four-hit performance against USC Upstate on Friday night in the series opener – marking a career high.  
- In fact, Upshaw batted .667 (10-15) over his last four games and hit an incredible .727 (8-for-10) against USC Upstate, and batted .615 against Lipscomb.
 
More Streaking
- Corey Greeson is currently on an eight-game hitting streak, totaling at least two hits in every game and has three, three-hit games during the stretch.
- Greeson is batting .543 with five doubles, one home run and 19 total hits. He is slugging .771 and has a .619 on-base percentage during the span.
- Overall, Greeson ranks first on the team with a .382 batting average. He is tied on the team with eight doubles and ranks third on the team with four home runs.
 
Owl Facts
- At 10-2 in A-Sun play, KSU equaled the best start after four league series since 2014 when Lipscomb and Mercer both opened with 10-2 marks. The Bisons would continue to a 12-2 A-Sun record after 14 games.
- The Owls swept their last two series including USC Upstate on the road last weekend and NJIT at Stillwell Stadium. Kennesaw State claimed the series win vs. Lipscomb last year in Nashville, 2-1, and took 2-of-3 from the Bisons this past weekend at Stillwell Stadium.
- KSU's eight-game conference win streak was snapped on Sunday as Lipscomb avoided a sweep with a 11-9 13-inning victory over the Owls.
- Austin Upshaw collected his second A-Sun Player of the Week accolade on last Monday after batting .667 last week with 10 hits. He tallied four multi-hit games including a 4-4 effort in the series opener at USC Upstate.
- The Owls have won eight of their last 10 home games at Stillwell Stadium and three of their last four games on the road.
