Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Andy Eggerth's Thoughts on the Virginia Challenge
"I want to Thank Virginia for putting on an outstanding meet. They certainly have one of the best run competitions in the country and our student-athletes always perform well here.

It's fairly easy to break records when taking over a new program, but in my sixth year here the records have become much more respectable. To break three more records this weekend is a testament to the great kids we have.

Jordan obviously had a great performance in her 1st heptathlon.  Not only was she the winning collegian, surpassing the 5000 point mark for the 1st time in school history, but she also set two records within the heptathlon: the hurdles and long jump. This performance ranks her 33rd in the NCAA.

Jocselyn Powell also broke through a significant barrier getting under one minute in the 400m hurdles for the first time in school history.

And of course, Morgan Campbell with a huge PR and school record in the triple jump, surpassing the old mark by over a foot!

Dayo Akindele showed out on the men's side with a foot and a half personal record in the triple jump surpassing both the 15m barrier and the 50 foot barrier. This puts Dayo as our second best jumper in school history as only a freshman."
