THE STORYLINE:
· Kennesaw State backed a strong pitching performance from junior Mason Ward and took a non-conference mid-week clash against the Bulldogs of Georgia at Foley Field Tuesday evening, 4-2.
· Kennesaw State's Ward (1-1) out-dueled the Bulldogs' pitching staff that used five pitchers over the night, tossing a career-high 6.0 innings allowing just four hits and two earned runs.
· With the win, the Owls improved to 9-16 while Georgia dropped to 15-11 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
· Kennesaw State held the Bulldogs to just seven hits as Ward (win), Logan Hutchinson and Richard Lovelady (save) had impressive showings on the bump.
· The Owls placed a crooked three runs on the scoreboard in the second inning –which entered the night outscoring opponents 22-10 in the frame—, coming off an RBI from David Chabut and Corey Greeson's two-run infield single.
· Kennesaw State extended its lead to 4-0 when Alex Liquori drove in his 15th RBI of the season, singling in teammate Austin Upshaw – who led off the frame with a double down the right field line.
· The Bulldogs finally broke the shutout bid in the bottom half of the sixth, coming off a key two-out, two-run RBI double to cut the Owls lead in half at 4-2.
· Lovelady, a junior from Hinesville, Georgia native, recorded a season-high six strikeouts in just 2.1 innings, earning his first save of the season to hold off UGA to earn the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
· Mason Ward pitched a career-high in innings pitched, making his second career start on the mound.
· Richard Lovelady and Logan Hutchinson made their 16th and 14th appearances out of the bullpen, respectively.
· With the win, Kennesaw State have now won at Foley Field in three of its last four trips to Athens, Ga.

Coach Sansing Quote
"Mason Ward threw strikes all night and made pitches when he needed to. He kept his pitches down and controlled Georgia. It was great to see and he had a great outing. Richard (Lovelady) threw well out of the bullpen and held them off the scoreboard. Every win is important and to see some progress was nice."
