Atlanta, Ga. - The Kennesaw State men's and women's track teams finished action at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday.
"I can't lie. Overall I'm disappointed with our performance today. I know our student-athletes are much better than what they put out there. We can't let a little rain allow us to complacent with our preparations and mediocre in our efforts if we want to be champions," Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Andy Eggerth said. "That being said, we had several commendable individual performances. Andre broke the school record in the high jump. Hunter and Brenton did well in the PV before the rains came .Kidan ran her fast time ever in the 1500m running a great race. Jacy and Shawna both had their best performances in the pole vault."
On the women's side, Kidan Kidane finished second in the 1500m run in 4:29.20. That time is good for third fastest in school history. Shakedra Robinson jumped 1.66m (5'.05.25) in the high jump to pick up a fifth place finish. Jacy Roberson finished eighth 3.60m (11'9.75) and Shawna Lehman tied for ninth in the pole vault 3.45m (11-3.75) both were their top vaults of their careers.
On the men's side, Sean Blassingame was fifth in the long jump with a leap of 7.06m (23'2.00). Hunter Arnold(4.78m, 15'8.25) and Brenton Rosa (4.78m, 15'8.25) finished fourth and fifth in the pole vault with both clearing the highest heights of their career.
