KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State ran into a hot pitcher and Georgia State team on Monday as the Panthers posted a 13-0, five-inning victory at Bailey Park.
Â
For the second time this season, the Owls (15-8) were involved in a perfect game as Georgia State starter Katie Worley (6-4) accomplished the feat against Kennesaw State. Earlier this season,
Logan Viers threw a six-inning perfect game against Alabama A&M.
Â
The Panthers (14-12) struck early against Viers (7-2), scoring two runs on four hits in the first inning and scored at least one run in all five innings against four Kennesaw State pitchers.
Â
"Unfortunately, every once in a while you have a day like this where the game gets away from you and it got away from us in a hurry, and, unfortunately, we didn't show enough resilience and determination to get back in it and stem the tide and once it started rolling against us we just kind of let it roll.
Â
"Hopefully, we can learn from that. We've got a really big challenge going over to Athens tomorrow (Wednesday) so I hope we can bring a better effort to the game over there against Georgia and we'll see if we can learn some lessons," Acheson added.
Â
The Owls return to action on Wednesday (Mar. 16) when they travel to Athens to take on No. 12 Georgia beginning at 6 p.m.
