Results Birmingham, Ala. – The Kennesaw State track and field teams wrapped up the regular season at Jaguar Invitational at the Birmingham Crossplex on Sunday Feb.7.
"Today showed that we are ready for the Atlantic Sun Championships in three weeks," Director of Track and Field and Cross Country
Andy Eggerth said. "After working and competing hard throughout January, we have just begun unloading training and the results are already showing with a couple of school records and numerous personal records today. With three weeks to taper back and tune up we are in store for quite a show."
On the women's side, junior
Kidan Kidane set a school record finishing fourth in the mile run in 4:54.60. Sophomore Josceslyn Powell was fourth in the 400m hurdles in 57.24 seconds.
In the field events,
Shakedra Robinson won the high jump after clearing 1.74m (5'8.50). Sophomore Greta Pickelaite finished third in the shot put with a toss of 12.20m (40-00.50).
On the men's side, Freshman
Dayo Akindele won the 60m hurdles in 8.05 seconds. Fellow freshman Darell Abernathy finished 8th in the 60m hurdles in 8.30 seconds.
Martynas Sedys threw 18.63m (61'1.50) in the weight throw to grab a second place finish. Freshman
Brenton Rosa had the second highest jump in KSU Indoor track history with a leap of 4.82m (15-9.75)
The Kennesaw State track and field teams will return to action Feb.26-27 at the Atlantic Sun Indoor Championships in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
