Brown started the game 4-4 from the field and carried the Owls to a 13-8 advantage early in the first half.
NJIT took the lead back on a Damon Lynn three pointer. The Highlanders extended their lead to as much as seven in the first half, but despite having major foul trouble, the Owls kept it close as they only trailed at halftime 41-35.
Playing in front of the home crowd, NJIT came out of halftime and pushed their lead to double-digits and it was too much to overcome as they ended up taking the 19-point victory 78-59.
The Owls now head home to host A-Sun leading North Florida on Thursday, February 11 at 7 p.m.
On the NJIT Game"Today, particularly in the second half we did not have a presence offensively. We didn't shoot the ball well. We didn't shoot our free throws well and it really impacted the way we played defense. It's clearly not a formula to be able to play on the road. Every game that we've had foul trouble in the first half, it's carried over to the second half and it's impacted our defense. That's something we have to be able to overcome. I think we were distracted by that, we didn't stay aggressive and it allowed them to do what they wanted to do offensively. That's something that we have to improve upon and we need to be more fundamentally sound particularly when we get in foul trouble. I like to think up until this point, we've played well and done some good things, so hopefully we put this behind us as we move forward."
