CLINTON, S.C. – For the fourth match in a row, the Kennesaw State men's tennis team came out victorious in a dual match showdown. The Owls (4-1) defeated non-conference foe Presbyterian (1-9), 6-1, at the Templeton Tennis Courts on Saturday (Feb. 20) afternoon.
For the fourth consecutive match, the Owls got all-important doubles point to jumpstart the dual match and take a 1-0 lead. Doubles tandem of
Simon Pritchard and
Manuel Castellanos (6-2) and
David Durham and
Drew Wendel (6-4) anchored the matches to give KSU the first point on the day.
The momentum carried as Kennesaw State won its first five matches to secure the win over the Blue Hose. The Owls got big performances from Pritchard (6-3, 6-3), Castellanos (6-4, 6-1), Durham (2-6, 6-3, 10-4),
Alejandro Valencia (1-6, 6-2, 6-4), and
Lucas de Torres Curth (6-2, 6-2).
Castellanos clinched the day with his victory over the Blue hose and both Durham and Valencia both came back to win their matches after dropping the first set in hard-fought matches to help the Owls improve to 4-1.
Next UpThe Owls will play host to Mercer on Wednesday (Feb. 24) in its first home match since 2012. The dual match will begin at 10 a.m. in the Owls' home debut.
