MONTGOMERY, Ala. –  The Kennesaw State men's tennis completed a weekend sweep at the Alabama State Invitational with a 6-1 dual match victory over Alabama State on Saturday (Feb. 13) at the Olena Black Underwood Tennis Center.

Fresh off a win over Jacksonville State  on Feb. 12 , 6-1, the Owls came out aggressive again as freshman Lucas de Torres Curth (6-0, 4-0), Simon Pritchard (7-5,6-3), David Durham (6-3, 6-4), Drew Wendel (6-1, 6-2) and Alejandro Valencia (6-2,6-2)  all recorded singles victories on the day.

Pritchard went undefeated the entire weekend, not dropping a match in singles or doubles over the two-day stretch.

For the third consecutive match , the Owls got the all-important doubles point to jumpstart the dual match and take a 1-0 lead. Doubles tandem of Pritchard and Manuel Castellanos (6-2) and Jorge Wilton and Valencia (6-2) secured the point to take an early 1-0 lead.

In singles play, Wendel and Durham bounced back after a hard-fought doubles loss and secured the Owls' two big wins.

The momentum continued as Valencia secured the Saturday victory, marking the second consecutive day he did that, by not losing a set in his singles match to help Kennesaw State win its second dual match in as many days.

Next Up
The Owls will take on Presbyterian on Saturday (Feb. 20) in Clinton, South Carolina for a non-conference dual match with the Blue Hose. KSU will make its home season debut on the Owls' campus on Feb. 24 against in-state rival Mercer.

Coach Rincon Quote
" We made some small adjustments in doubles following yesterday's match. The guys responded well and played some solid doubles. We played steady singles all day in all the courts, which we needed to do to win. Lucas bounced back today after a tough loss and took care of business. Drew Wendel has really stepped up so far and gave us the third point setting up Alejandro's match-clinging victory."
