Game Preview
The Owls finish off an eight day road trip at Pacific on Tuesday night with a game at 10 p.m. ET. in the Gotham Classic.
Nation Leaders
Seniors
Kendrick Ray and
Aubrey Williams are both leading the Owls on the court this season as well as top 10 in the nation in a couple of statistical categories.
Â
After posting another career high in scoring with 35 points against UMass, Ray is eighth in the nation averaging 23.1 points per game. He has posted three 30-point performances, seven 20-point performances and has been in double figures in all 11 games this season.
Â
Williams has been a force on the boards grabbing 11.5 per game putting him eighth in the country. He has six double-doubles this season already. His career high came against Brewton Parker earlier in the season when he pulled down 20. Williams has six double-doubles this season.
Â
Closing in on 400
Head Coach
Al Skinner is close to a career milestone as he currently sits on win 399 after defeating Florida A&M. Career wins wise, Coach Skinner has the second most in the ASUN only behind Eddie Payne of USC Upstate, who has 476 career victories.
Â
1,000 Career Points
After setting a single-season record with 579 points in his first season at Kennesaw State, Ray is closing in on 1,000 career points after 11 games this season.
Â
In his career at KSU and Quinnipiac, Ray has accumulated 920 points with 820 coming at KSU and 100 happening at Quinnipiac.Â
Â
Double-Double Machine
Through 11 games,
Aubrey Williams is averaging 12.5 points and 11.5 rebounds with six double-doubles. Last season, Ray had the most double-doubles all season with four.
Â
Per 40 minutes, he is averaging 14.4 rebounds per game and pulls down 20.4 percent of all rebounds when he is on the floor.
Â
Leading the ASUN
For the season, Ray is leading the ASUN averaging 23.1 points per game. He has scored 30-plus points three times this season against UMBC, Alabama State and UMass has 20 points in seven of the 11 games.
Â
Against UMass, Ray was on fire going 11-17 from the floor and 9-9 from the free throw line. He also led the team with four assists.
Â
The 35 points was one shy of tying a Kennesaw State single-season record set a couple seasons ago by
Yonel Brown.
Â
Smart Outside Shooting
Kennesaw State doesn't shoot a lot of threes, but when they do it's usually a good shot leading to a high shooting percentage from behind the arc. The Owls lead the ASUN shooting 41.1 percent going 65-158 from three-point land.
Â
The 158 attempts is the lowest in the ASUN by 69 attempts and is 219 attempts less than the league leading Lipscomb, who has shot 377 three pointers this season.
