Game Preview
The Owls continue the Gotham Classic at UMass on Saturday, December 17 at 1 p.m. This is the first meeting between the Owls and Minutemen, but UMass is very familiar as KSU head coach Al Skinner played at UMass.

The game will be broadcasted on the A10 Network.

UMass Connections
Skinner returns to his alma mater where he played from 1971-74. He remains one of the most decorated players in UMass basketball history, concluding his career with 1,235 points, 749 rebounds and 320 assists in 79 games. Skinner was inducted into the UMass Athletics Hall of Fame in 1982, and his No. 30 jersey was retired by the Minutemen on Feb. 18, 2004.

Coach Skinner isn't Kennesaw State's only connections with UMass as Director of Athletics Vaughn Williams also attended the school. Williams earned a Sports Management degree in 1992 after being a four year lettermen for the Minutemen on their football team.

Closing in on 400
Head Coach Al Skinner is close to a career milestone as he currently sits on win 399 after defeating Florida A&M. Career wins wise in the ASUN, Coach Skinner has the second most wins only behind Eddie Payne of USC Upstate, who has 476 career victories.

Freshmen Boosting Bench Play
Johannes Nielsen has been a consistent boost off the bench this season for the Owls. He has scored in double figures three times and shoots at an incredibly consistent rate going 28-38 from the floor making 73 percent of his shots.

Against Rider, James Scott made his debut for the Owls and didn't disappoint. The freshman scored 16 points going 6-10 from the floor. Both players assisted KSU in two comebacks in the game with one being in the first half and the other being in the second half.

1,000 Career Points
After setting a single-season record with 579 points in his first season at Kennesaw State, Ray is closing in on 1,000 career points after 10 games this season.

In his career at KSU and Quinnipiac, Ray has accumulated 885 points.

Smart Outside Shooting
Kennesaw State doesn't shoot a lot of threes, but when they do it's usually a good shot leading to a high shooting percentage from behind the arc. The Owls lead the ASUN shooting 40.7 percent going 59-145 from three-point land.

The 145 attempts is the lowest in the ASUN by 58 attempts and is 178 attempts less than the league leading Lipscomb, who has shot 323 three pointers this season.
