KENNESAW, Ga. – Senior captain Aubrey Williams led the Kennesaw State men's basketball team over Georgia Southwestern in an exhibition game at the KSU Convocation Center on Friday, November 4.

Williams pulled down a double-double on the night with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Overall, Georgia Southwestern gave the Owls all they wanted, hanging tough and pushing KSU until the final horn sounded.

"The good thing is we gave some guys a chance to play in the first half," head coach Al Skinner said. "We didn't really play consistently with the intensity that we needed in the first half, so the second half we cut back our rotation a little bit. That led to a little better intensity on the defensive end and better execution on the offensive end."

Trailing by as many as eight points in the game, Kennesaw State stepped up their defensive pressure in the half court and hustle on the offensive boards to get back in the game. In total, KSU outrebounded the Canes 44-33 with 16 of those being on the offensive end.

Kendrick Ray had all 11 of his points come in the second half, and freshman point guard Tyler Hooker came up big as well scoring eight of his 10 points in the final 20 minutes.

"We played a better second half, but we were 0-11 from three," Skinner said. "We also shot about 50 percent from the free throw line so there were a lot of points we left on the board. For us to score 60 points with those deficiencies tonight clearly shows the potential of our offense, but our defense has to be a little more consistent. I think we'll get there though."

The regular season is almost here for the Owls as it begins in a week on Friday, November 11 at Iowa for a 9:30 p.m. ET tip.
