Kennesaw State Team Notes
• Since September 9, the Kennesaw State volleyball team has been on fire winning 13 of their last 14 matches and racing out to a 9-1 ASUN record. They currently sit in first place with two weekends to go in the regular season.
• KSU finished the first half of ASUN play 7-0 for the first time in Kennesaw State history. The best start previously for the Owls in the ASUN was 2-0.
• Earlier in the season, Anaiah Boyer had a streak of four straight ASUN weekly awards. The first week she was named Defensive Player of the Week and then won Player of the Week for three straight weeks. She was the first player to win three straight since Kelly Paiva of Florida Atlantic did it in 2005.
• Kristi Piedimonte has been having her best season in a KSU uniform averaging 10.38 assists per set. In conference play, those numbers have gone even higher as she is averaging even more at 10.78 assists per set, which is the best mark in the ASUN and the 38th best mark in the country.
• Katarina Morton is currently the only player in the ASUN averaging over five digs per set at 5.13. For the season, she is sitting on 471 and only five digs away from matching a season high she set her freshman year. Only one player has reached the 500-dig mark in KSU history and that was Camille Pedraza in 2012 when she had 513.
• Boyer is third in the ASUN in kills per set with 3.34. In conference play, she has stepped up even more killing the ball 3.87 times per set. Last weekend against USC Upstate, Boyer's 22 kills at USC Upstate were tops in the ASUN in all five-set conference matches this season.
• In conference play, the Owls lead the ASUN in service aces with 69 and are second with 1.77 service aces per set. The team has out aced their opponents in seven of 10 ASUN matches. Against NJIT, Maddie Jones tied a school record with seven service aces in the match. On the season, she leads the Owls with 25 aces, but Fanise Cannon and Piedimonte are right behind her with 24 and 23 respectively.
• In Kennesaw State history, there are five players that have reached 30 service aces. This season alone, the Owls may have three do it as Jones has 25, Cannon has 24 and Piedimonte has 23.
• The team has been really solid on the back line this season averaging 16.14 digs per set. If the season ended now that would be a new school record. The Owls have five players with at least 187 digs with Katarina Morton leading the team with 471.
