BALTIMORE, Md.  – Kendrick Ray led the Kennesaw State men's basketball team with 31 points against UMBC on Saturday, November 19 at RAC Arena, but the Retrievers made a second half comeback to win 93-85.

In a very back and forth game with 12 lead changes and eight ties, the Owls had four players score in double-figures.

Kennesaw State got off to a good start against UMBC leading most of the first half. With 1:39 remaining in the opening frame, Zach Cameron made a layup giving the Owls its largest lead of the game up 38-31. UMBC responded quickly though to go on a 5-0 run before the half to cut the Owls lead to 38-36 at halftime.

Once the second half started, KSU stayed hot pushing its lead back to six points less than a minute in, but UMBC kept hanging around because of their leading scorer, Jairus Lyles 29 points in the game.

With just under 15 minutes to play in the game, UMBC went on a 9-0 run to take the lead back forcing KSU to use a timeout.

Trailing by seven, Ray continued to bring the Owls back as the team got within one point of UMBC four times late in the second half. With 5:24 remaining in the game down by one, UMBC went on an 8-0 run to go up nine and it was too much for the Owls to come back from again.

To go along with Ray's 31, Aubrey Williams had his third double-double of the season with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

KSU moves to 1-3 on the season, but will travel back home now and get ready for two games next week against Alabama State and Chattanooga. The Alabama State game is on Tuesday, November 26 at 6 p.m.
