KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State received double-digit scoring from juniors Clara Young and Kelly Dulkoski, but it was not enough as the Owls fell 86-49 to Georgia Tech Wednesday (Nov. 16) at the KSU Convocation Center.

The Yellow Jackets (3-0) took advantage of their size and depth to assume control of the game early in the third quarter and out-scored the Owls 48-18 in the second half.

Young led Kennesaw State (0-3) with 13 points, while Dulkoski added 12. Georgia Tech received balanced scoring as five players finished in double figures, led by Zaire O'Neil and Francesca Pan, who shared game-high honors with 14 points apiece.

The game marked the first time that Kennesaw State first-year head coach Agnus Berenato has coached against Georgia Tech, a program that she led for 15 years. She also matched wits for the initial time with Yellow Jackets head coach MaChelle Joseph, who served as an assistant to Berenato at Georgia Tech.

"I'm really proud of my team. I like Georgia Tech, but I'm Kennesaw State now and I'm proud of my student-athletes," Berenato said. "The one thing I learned in this game, the Vanderbilt game and the Jacksonville State game is this team will not quit.

"You can see that we are tremendously undersized and out-muscled, but this team has the heart the size of California and I'm really proud to be their coach," Berenato added.

Two telling statistics in the game was Georgia Tech outscoring Kennesaw State 52-10 in the paint and 45-9 off the bench.

The Owls opened the game making six of their first nine shots to build a 13-10 lead midway through the opening quarter and were tied 19-19 after 10 minutes. A slow start to begin the second quarter allowed the Yellow Jackets to build a 10-point lead before Dulkoski scored four points in the final minute to reduce the deficit to 38-31 at the break.

Georgia Tech opened the third quarter with an 8-0 run to open a 46-31 lead two minutes into the period and assume control.
