Â
SENIOR CAPTAINS
Kendrick Ray and
Aubrey Williams were both named captains for this season. Last season, Ray led the team averaging 18.7 points per game and set a new school record with 579 points on the season, and Williams was the team's leading rebounder and first man off the bench.
Â
Their leadership has showed up early this year as KSU mounted a huge comeback against Brewton Parker led by Ray's 23 points and Williams 18 points and 20 rebounds. Combined, both players only missed three minutes in the game.
Â
Comeback Time
The Owls fell behind 21 points in their home opener against Brewton Parker before making a huge comeback in front of their home crowd to secure the victory. Kennesaw State beat the Barons by 21 points in the second half to secure the six-point win.
Â
Last season, the Owls came back when trailing in the second half twice, but didn't trail by more than seven points in those comebacks.Â
Â
Post Man
Williams played big for the Owls against Brewton Parker securing career highs in points with 18, rebounds with 20 and minutes with 40.
Â
The 20 rebounds set a school record as the previous school high in the Division I era was 18 done three times.
Â
Masterson of the Three
Junior
Nick Masterson's hard work this offseason paid off as he went 11-16 from the field while setting a new career high with 29 points in the team's opening game against Iowa. He was 7-10 from behind the arc tying a Kennesaw State single-game record. He followed that performance up by posting another game scoring in double-digits finishing with 11 hitting three treys against Brewton Parker.
Â
Coming into the season, Masterson had seven games in double figures in his career and already has two this season.
