BENJI BITES
"USC Upstate really battled from the beginning and weren't going to go away quietly. We knew we were going to have a fight on our hands," head coach
Benji Walton said. "It took us a while to get a rhythm and once we did, we kept pushing and getting after it and got our two goals from unlikely sources.
Â
"Monica got her second goal of the year and Kaitlyn scored her first collegiate goal, which was huge," Walton added. "I told the girls that if you are going to win in the playoffs, you have to play your game and someone has to step up, and today we had that happen."
WHAT'S NEXT
The Owls open ASUN Conference Tournament play on Saturday when they host a first-round match at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. KSU's opponent will be either NJIT or North Florida, pending the results of play later today.
