Kennesaw State Team Notes
• Kennesaw State will be searching for its 13th consecutive victory when the Owls host Lipscomb on Friday. KSU broke their previous program record of eight-straight earlier this year and their current streak of 12 is tied for the fourth longest in NCAA DI Volleyball. Since 2005, only seven ASUN squads have had longer running streaks than the current Kennesaw State side.
• KSU finished the first half of ASUN play 7-0 for the first time in Kennesaw State history. The best start previously for the Owls in the ASUN was 2-0.
• This week snapped
Anaiah Boyer's streak of four straight ASUN weekly awards. The first week she was named Defensive Player of the Week and then won Player of the Week for three straight weeks. She was the first player to win three straight since Kelly Paiva of Florida Atlantic did it in 2005.
• Overall, the Owls have been very successful with weekly awards this season winning one five out of the nine weeks they've been awarded.
•
Kristi Piedimonte has been having a great season and has been key during the 12-match win streak. She has been averaging over 40.6 assists per match totaling 488 during that stretch. That total puts her at 11.09 per set.
• Boyer leads the ASUN during conference play in kills per set averaging 3.96. Over the entire season, she is third in the conference averaging 3.29 kills per set.
• KSU has been really good serving the ball this season as they have 105 service aces for the season. Piedimonte and
Fanise Cannon both lead the team with 22 service aces each.
•
Katarina Morton has eclipsed the 400 dig mark with seven regular season matches left. Her 5.16 average per set is 19th in the country. She is the only player in the ASUN to average over five digs per set.
•
Kelly Marcinek and Morton are both active career leaders in the ASUN in kills and digs. Marcinek has 1,071 kills and Morton has 1,321 digs.
• Marcinek is second on the team in kills with 163 on the year. In ASUN play, she is sixth in the league averaging 2.78 kills per set.
•
Liesl Engelbrecht has been a force in the middle for the Owls leading the team in blocking with 63.0. She is third on the team in kills with 161 hitting .332. The .332 hitting percentage is second in the ASUN.
Next Up
The Owls will finally hit the road again as they travel to NJIT and USC Upstate. KSU will take on the Highlanders on Friday, October 28 and then play Upstate on Sunday, October 30.
