Kennesaw State Team Notes
• Since beating Georgia State in four sets at the Georgia Challenge, Kennesaw State has been on a tear, winning ten matches in a row and currently holds the fourth longest winning streak in the country. The 10-match winning streak is also the longest in school history.
• KSU is off to a 5-0 start in ASUN play for the first time in school history after sweeping Stetson and FGCU. The previous best start in school history was 2-0.
• With the Owls beating FGCU last Friday, they snapped Gulf Coast's 15-match winning streak which was the longest in the nation.
•
Anaiah Boyer was named ASUN Player of the Week for the third time in a row. She is the second player in ASUN history to win the award three straight times. The last student-athlete to do that was in 2005 when Kelly Paiva of Florida Atlantic did it.
• To earn the award, Boyer led the team with 31 kills, 12 digs and nine blocks. Last Friday, FGCU came to town with the longest winning streak in the nation and Boyer took over the match posting 21 kills hitting .333, 10 digs and matching a career high with eight blocks. The next night in limited playing time, Boyer was the only player to reach double-figures in kills with 10 against Stetson.
• Boyer leads the ASUN during conference play in kills per set averaging 4.33. She has totaled 91 kills in the five matches, which is 22 more than anyone else in the conference.
• KSU has had a good season serving the ball. The team has 92 service aces on the season and leads during conference play with 33 through their first five ASUN matches.
•
Katarina Morton has totaled 383 digs to this point in the season which is 13th most in the country and leads the ASUN. Her 5.18 average per set is 17th in the country. She is the only player in the ASUN to average over five digs per set.
• Junior setter
Kristi Piedimonte is averaging 10.05 assists per set for the first time in her career totaling 734 assists through 19 matches. She is one of two players averaging over 10 assists per set and her 10.05 average is good for second best in the ASUN.
•
Liesl Engelbrecht has been a force in the middle for the Owls leading the team in blocking with 56.0. She is third on the team in kills with 140 hitting .307. The .307 hitting percentage is third in the ASUN.
Â
Next Up
The Owls will have one more weekend at home beginning the second half of conference play against the Lipscomb Bisons. KSU topped Lipscomb in five sets at their place to begin ASUN play.
