KENNESAW, Ga.  – The Kennesaw State Owls dropped an Atlantic Sun Conference Tuesday (Jan. 26) afternoon tilt, 78-47, at the KSU Convocation Center to the visiting Eagles of Florida Gulf Coast.

The Owls had eight players score at least three points in the game, led by senior Jasmine McAllister's 12 points and eight rebounds – which fell two boards shy of her eighth double-double of the season. Freshman Iceis Walker led the bench attack with nine points, hitting 7-of-11 from the free throw line to provide a spark for head coach Nitra Perry, and redshirt sophomore Clara Young finished with eight points and a career-best six rebounds.

In the opening half, FGCU jumped out to a quick 14-0 start and never looked back in a wire-to-wire finish to improve to 5-0 in league play. The Eagles shot 46 (16-of-35) percent overall from the field and 5-of-13 from beyond the arc, including a buzzer-beating 3-pointer before the half to push their lead to 30.

In the second half, the Owls hung tough with FGCU, playing to a 31-30 total over the final 20 minutes of action. Kennesaw State, in fact, outscored the Eagles 18-17 over the final 10 minutes of action.

The fourth quarter was led by McAllister's five points, followed by four points from redshirt sophomore Kelly Dulkoski and Walker each to help the Owls finish the tilt on a strong note.

For the game, Kennesaw State shot 13-for-45 from the field and hit 3-of-11 from beyond the arc. KSU also hit 62.1 percent of its free throws, making 18-of-29 at the charity stripe in the contest.

Coach Perry Quote
"We got off to a slow start, and we can't afford to do that against one of the top teams in the conference. FGCU stuck to their game plan and I feel like we didn't execute our game plan as well. Outside of the first quarter, I thought we played decent. You look at the second, third and fourth quarter, we bought into the fact that we could compete with them and they finished strong. We made an adjustment on our mindset and finished that fourth quarter strong."
