Kennesaw State Team Notes
• After going 2-0 in the Georgia Challenge, Kennesaw State is 5-0 to start the season. That is the best start in school history topping the 4-0 start that the 2012 team had.
• Other than the intense five-set match with Georgia Southern, the Owls have swept their other four opponents on the season. They have won 15 of 17 sets so far this season.
Anaiah Boyer and Rachel Taylor were named to the All-Tournament team at the Georgia Challenge. KSU and Georgia Tech both went undefeated in the tournament and each had two members named to the All-Tournament Team. The Owls and Jackets will square off on September 18 in the KSU Convocation Center.
• Setter Kristi Piedimonte has done a great job passing the ball around early in the season. The Owls have hit over .327 in four of the five matches the team has played in and had at least four players hit over .300 in every match. Against Mercer, the Owls had four players that hit over .500.
• Piedimonte has 149 assists through five games and is averaging 10.56 assists per match. For the 2014 season, she averaged 8.77 per set.
• Freshman Sydni Shelton was named Atlantic Sun Co-Freshman of the Week after finishing the opening weekend off with 34 kills hitting .623 and being named the Kennesaw State Invitational MVP. She didn't slow down the second week. She had 21 kills combined in the two matches and finished with 12 kills hitting .611 against Mercer. She leads the team with 55 kills total on the season.
• The offense wasn't the only thing in sync so far this season. KSU's defense has held people to a hitting percentage of .070.
• Through five matches, KSU has 503 total attacks. The team has 218 kills and has only made 52 errors.
• Kennesaw State has 31 service aces this season. Katarina Morton and Piedimonte are tied for the team lead with six each and Maddie Jones, Sydni Shelton and Fanise Cannon all have four aces.
