ATLANTA, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men's tennis team wrapped up its play at the 2015 Georgia Tech Fall Invitational on the campus of Georgia Tech Sunday (Sept. 27) afternoon. Led by the Director of Tennis, Eduardo Rincon, the Owls continued their tough fall schedule by competing all nine Owls over the weekend.

"We didn't really get the results we wanted out of this weekend, but we certainly gained some invaluable experience playing against well established programs, Rincon said. "I feel like everyone played well at some point or another, but we need to finad a way to stay more consistent throughout matches. In order for us to get to where we want, we cannot afford to take mental breaks."

Highlighting the three-day tournament that concluded Sunday was freshman Sam Slade, who hails from Alpharetta, Georgia, by going 2-1 in singles play and finished a perfect 1-0 in doubles play. Slade opened his strong weekend by earning the Owls' only singles win on the opening day, defeating Sunay Bhat of Tennessee (6-3, 7-6 – 7-2) in a tight match throughout. The freshman also defeated Matt Henson out of The Citadel on Sunday afternoon.

Junior Simon Pritchard and freshman Lucas de Torres also picked up singles victories over the weekend's draw. Pritchard defeated Auburn's Edward Nguyen (6-4, 6-1) in straight sets on Saturday afternoon, while de Torres defeated Josh Hublitz from UNC Wilmington (6-1, 1-6, 6-3) in three sets.

Double's tandem of Jorge Wilton and Slade also picked up a win on the opening round of doubles draw, defeating The Citadel's Matt Henson and Jackson Pride 8-6. De Torres also picked up a doubles win on the opening round Friday with a win over Auburn, 8-7 (7-2).

The Owls' success continued in doubles play on Saturday, as the tandem of David Durham and Drew Wendel defeated a duo of Georgia Tech's Andrew Li and UNCW Xander Veys, 8-4. Rincon also had Manuel Casellanos and teammate Corey Smith defeat Michael Apple and Luis Morillo out of Middle Tennessee State, 8-6, in their doubles match on Saturday.
