CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Despite a second half score from junior Kim Fincher, the Kennesaw State soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Austin Peay on Friday night (Sept. 18) at the Morgan Brothers Soccer Field in Clarksville, Tenn.

The Governors opened the scoring in the 15th minute as Gina Fabbro took a through ball from McKenzie Dixon and slotted it past sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Zambetti. Eight minutes later, APSU would make it 2-0 on a goal from Shelby Olszewski in the 23rd minute.

The Owls came out fighting in the second half with Fincher cutting the deficit to one with her third goal of the season in the 54th minute after heading in a corner from Ida Hepsoe.

Heading into the final minutes of the match, the Govs netted an insurance goal to seal the 3-1 victory as Dixon scored on a 30-yard free kick.

Following a five-match road swing that saw KSU away from Kennesaw for three weeks, the Owls next return home for three-straight matches, first hosting Samford at Nuesoft Technologies Soccer Field on the KSU Marietta Campus on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. ET in Marietta, Ga.

Quotable
"We played a great second half, but the problem was that there were two halves. We did not have the belief, fight or execution in the first half and we have to start stronger if we want to win these close games."
- Kennesaw State Head Coach Rob King
