GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Kennesaw State soccer team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Furman on Friday night (Sept. 11) at Eugene Stone Soccer Stadium in Greenville, S.C.

The Paladins struck first in the 23rd minute as Carlie Couch ran onto a Sanon Williams through ball and finished past sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Zambetti.

Just four minutes into the second half, a controversial foul called in the Owl 18-yard box resulted in a penalty kick for the Paladins as Jamie Alexander converted for the 2-0 lead.

An insurance goal from Molly Dwyer in the 56th minute then cemented the 3-0 win for the Paladins.

The Owls return to South Carolina for their fourth trip to the state as KSU takes on Southeastern Conference (SEC) foe South Carolina on Monday (Sept. 14) at 6 p.m. ET in Columbia.

Quotables
"Very pleased with our performance and the learning that has taken place. With several players missing we are demanding a fast learning curve from several inexperience players. We made three individual errors and were punished, but I like the growth that I am seeing."
- Kennesaw State Head Coach Rob King

Notes
- Junior Kim Fincher led the Owls with three shots and the lone Owl shot on goal. For the season, Fincher is tied with classmate Cassidy Kemp for second on the squad with 16 shots in 2015.
- Junior Monica Herrera tied her second-highest shot output of the season with three shots against the Paladins. She had a season-high four shots in KSU's 1-0 win over Chattanooga on Aug. 28.
- Sophomore Ashley Zambetti made her fourth-straight start for the Owls and made one save on the day before being replaced by junior goalkeeper Catherine McDuff in the 73rd minute.
- Tonight's appearance was the first for McDuff since she started and played a full 90 minutes at Georgia State on Aug. 24.
