KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State Department of Athletics officially announced on Friday (July 10) its first-ever Kennesaw State Fall Festival to jumpstart the much-anticipated 2015 inaugural football season. The event will be held on Sunday, August 16 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium and surrounding KSU Sports and Recreation Park.
In hopes of becoming an annual tradition at Kennesaw State, the special event will be open to the public and will begin at 1:30 p.m. The day will culminate with a KSU soccer exhibition that begins at 4 p.m.
Fans will have the special opportunity to meet the football team –which will make history on Sept. 3 when it plays its first game at East Tennessee State. The Owls make their home debut at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Sept. 12 when they host Edward Waters at 4 p.m. in a game that will be televised by Atlanta's CW69.
"We're so excited to take an existing tradition, the Welcome to the Block Kickoff, and expand on it to create Fall Festival,"
Brandy Chenoweth, director of marketing and fan experience, said. "This will give fans an opportunity to meet our team and get excited about our upcoming fall sports. You can already feel the energy from our fans!"
Season ticket holders will have the opportunity to pick up their tickets and football season program. Fans and the community will also enjoy samples and games, interacting with Kennesaw State Athletics' sponsors and watch the Owls women's soccer team take on Columbus State. The event will take place primarily on Field 3 –which is on the East side of Fifth Third Bank Stadium—, and parking will be available in the gold, black, tan, and green lots.
"Fans have been counting down the days until they are able to pick up and touch their season tickets. It is even more special when it's an inaugural season, and will make football at Kennesaw State seem all that more real,
Bobby Lindsey, director of ticket sales and operations, said. "I can't wait to see the first fans get their season tickets."
Fans will also be able to check out up-to-the-minute information on social media and submit pictures using KSU's official hashtag for the event, #KSUFF, on Instagram or Twitter at @KSUOwlNation or Kennesaw State Owls.
Kennesaw State will play six home games during its inaugural season that includes non-conference contests against Edward Waters (Sept. 12), Shorter (Sept. 19) and Point University (Oct. 10). The Owls also will host Big South Conference opponents Gardner-Webb (Oct. 17), Monmouth (Oct. 31) and Charleston Southern (Nov. 7).
Less than 500 season tickets remain available for the inaugural season and are still priced at $99 plus a donation to The Owls Fund.
