KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men's basketball lost to USC Upstate 74-46 at the Convocation Center on Saturday, February 7.
"They weren't going to look past us after we lost a tough one up there," head coach
Jimmy Lallathin said. "We had a good crowd and you sit there and go this is a game we want to get, a little competition, a little competitive chip. We knew we were going to get their best shot because they were saying the same thing, and they were ready to play. I thought we started out back and forth and tied it at 15 after being down seven and then defensively just started missing assignments. I'm very proud of the group I put in with 12 minutes left. I thought they executed and did a great job."
Bernard Morena had another well-rounded game scoring eight points and had four rebounds.
The Owls kept it close early on with Morena being aggressive and taking the ball to hoop. His layup at the 8:12 mark tied the score at 15.
From there, Upstate buckled down on defense and went on a 16-0 run hitting four three pointers.
The Spartans took a 38-24 lead into the locker room.
Right out of the gates in the second half, Upstate put the game out of reach with a 14-0 run and went on to seal the win 74-46.
The Owls fall to 8-17 overall and 2-6 in Atlantic Sun play.
The Owls will be back on the court in the Convocation Center this Thursday, February 12 at 7 p.m. against Jacksonville.
