MTRACK: Dorsey Earns Atlantic Sun Track and Field Athlete of the Week Award

Won the Heptathlon at the Jack Johnson Classic

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State's Andre Dorsey won the Atlantic Sun Indoor Track and Field  award following  his performance  at the Jack Johnson Classic the conference announced Wednesday.

Dorsey won the heptathlon at the Jack Johnson Classic scoring 5644 points. That performance was good for fifth best in the country and 16th in the world.  Dorsey jumped 7.53m (24'8.5) in the long jump to win the event and is currently the 15th longest in the NCAA currently. He finished third in the shot put with a throw of 13.52m (44.4.25) and in the pole vault with a vault of 4.42m (14'6). The senior opened the weekend speeding to a win in the 60m in 6.88. This is his sixth career athlete of the week award.

"I'm pleased that Andre's prowess continues to be recognized," director of track and field and cross country Andy Eggerth said. "He continues to improve constantly.  Andre improved his last heptathlon score by over 1000 points.  En route to his win, he improved his 60m from 7.17 to 6.88, his hurdles from 8.50 to 8.21, and his pole vault from 9 feet to 14'6".  

The Owls will head to Massachusetts for a pair of meets on January 6-7th. They will compete in the Harvard Elite meet on Friday, February 6th and the Scarlet and White Invite hosted byBoston University on January 7th.
